KISS is definitely good.

But it could be considered a bit messy to have system dirs and
users dirs all intermixed.

Having all user dirs under a single USERS dir would keep them
nicely together.

And a concealed rooted logical is not that complex.

I would do it. I think the benefits outweigh the costs.
