Thanks.  Well aware of the hdiutil path.  Use a DMG extension on the 
input file and the GUI DIsk Utility tool can also do raw disk 
sector-by-sector media burns, too.

cdrecord and derivatives were commonly referenced to allow folks on 
other platforms to play along here, including the few folks with 
optical media recordable devices configured on OpenVMS systems.
