I only ever got VMS to fully install and boot on exactly one version
of es40 and I can't remember what else I might have had to do to get
that far, especially what emulated configuration I used.

I do remember coming close on another version of es40 but the VMS
installation process (IIRC) failed with an internal error somewhere
close to the end of the installation routine.
