Right, but the subject is "Removing blank lines from text files".  OK, 
depends on the definition of "blank".  :-)

Some curmudgeons claim that since a non-punched position on a punch card 
corresponds to space, then a blank line in Fortran should consist of 80 
spaces.  

One of the reasons that blanks were not significant in Fortran was to 
allow for mis-punched cards to be taped over, resulting in a blank, but 
this should be ignored in case it was too dangerous to re-punch it in 
the same column.
