   Yep.  As with other languages.  I often do so in embedded systems.
   And I've write ASTs in sources that pass through the Fortran compiler,
   even though the Fortran standard includes things that cannot be done
   in ASTs.  But someone using a subset of the language does not change
   the language standard.
