Have a look at MPACK. It can be used to mime encode/decode files which
you can send/receive by VMS mail. Other mail programs recognize it as a
normal attachment. Soem info can be found on my web-site:

Unfortunatly I noticed that the link to the original web site for the
source code is dead. I found a copy on github:

I will ceckout the github stuff later and update my website with my
findings.
