At least the current approach of replacing a defective or limited CRTL
routine with your own in a particular application can be more easily
audited.

There's also the legal aspect from a copyright point of view.
You may very well have to end up with ownership of that contributed
code transferred to VSI for the same reasons the FSF also require
ownership transfer.
