I'll start a new note here but my frequency of keeping it up-to-date could be very sporadic.
To start, here are two reminders:
1) V9.0 will not be available for everyone. There will be 10 to 15 selected ISVs, partners, and
customers getting a head start on porting their applications.
2) V9.0 will not be the complete operating system and all its associated layered products. The content
will be an intersection of what the selected participants need and what we will have ready in a
reasonable time frame.
I will get the V9.0 Proof Points ready in the next few days. For starters, we need to get to what I
call Real Boot, as opposed to First Boot where we did some side stepping and blatant cheating to
reach the goal. Two examples are: first, we loaded everything as execlets which means all the
code started out in memory and therefore there was no paging and second, we ran in kernel mode
and now have to deal with the other modes. These things are underway but each involves
multiple Proof Points.
Stay tuned.
