This directory is a left-over from the IA64 port...it will be going away in 9.0 (it should have gone away a loooong time ago)

n.b. The directory contained (past tense) cross-platform tools (Alpha executables that operated on "IA64 things"--e.g. the SYSGEN parameter file, SDA, boot partition, etc.).

There may, ahem, be something similar for the X86 port.
