You asked that I don't do so in private correspondence, and I complied. 
  It's only polite.

But c.o.v is not private, and isn't it a bit disrespectful to attempt to 
control how others express themselves, and yes, control what terminals 
and keyboards others prefer?

I'm aware that some living in urp like some conformity, but, we had this 
guy a while back who allowed "I may totally disagree with what you say, 
but I will defend, to the death, your right to say it", or something 
like that.  It's just us damn Yankees who are a bit peculiar that way.
