Rod,

Whether an IA64->x86-64 translator would be part of the effort has been long announced. The Alpha->x86-64 translator was always a different story.

If one has special build tools, one can modify them to generate x86-64 "code", then access the resulting files from the native environment. Presuming of course, that one has the sources for the tools.

There are a variety of ways to "skin" this particular "cat", but more details would be needed than are presently available.
