Are you intending to be hateful to your audience?

Quarter-century old software is very old software.  Very insecure 
software, increasingly difficult to interoperate with, and very 
difficult to securely connect to, too.

As for the C compilers?  VAX C is at least as far back from DEC C as 
DEC C is far back from the current C18, in terms of features and syntax 
and capabilities and tooling.  If not further.  DEC C was available on 
V5.5-2H4, in conjunction with the AACRT060 patch.  VAX C is K&R and 
pre-ANSI C, and it's known to have some nasty bugs.  Not the least of 
which involves MD5.  Avoid VAX C.
