Maybe I should do that.  Although it is automated to some extent, 
extracting the B64-encoded stuff, decoding it, and launching the 
corresponding application is something I would rather avoid.

Indeed!  And when that isn't enough, there is MLSEARCH, which can search 
over multiple folders, files (and hence disks), use wildcards, etc., 
i.e. similar to SEARCH.  It is written in a mixture of Fortran and 
Bliss.  :-)
