That's what refurbishment is all about. You know electrolytics are going
to fail, so you replace them. You know certain solder joints are tend to
fail, so you touch them up before you put old equipment back into service.
It's not cheap to do a full refurb job on older hardware, but it's a lot
cheaper easier to do it on a 3100 than it is on a modern PC. We know what
is going to fail, we deal with those things.
