The total number of folks supporting and enhancing LLVM and 'friends' is most likely more than all of VSI's employees combined (not that it's a pure numbers game comparison)

DEC and subsequent owners (excluding VSI of course) dropped the ball on a large number of items that has left VMS a shell of it's former self, all that can be done now is to focus on the core needs of clients and rebuild the business bit by bit and see where things eventually lead to

Money would be better invested in bringing VMS into a DevOps happy state of being and easily cloud deployable than in giving the DEC compilers a defib jolt. 

To paraphrase McCoy in regards to the state of VMS compilers, "He's dead Jim". Some might even say, "Deader than dead"
