The version-freezing stuff was because of the battle between Oracle and 
HP, but with HP now out of the picture, that might be moot.

Oracle did something similar itself when 8.0 was renamed 7.3 since 
people don't like to install .0 releases.  :-|  A rose, by any other 
name, would smell as sweet.
