Lots of options.
I have preferred CentOS for a long time, but I will need to find
something else myself. :-(
I have never liked Ubuntu or SUSE.
Based on what you are looking for then maybe
Arch Linux or Gentoo would be good choices.
Note that I have not used them myself, so
my recommendation is based on hearsay.
