Yes you are correct, Alpha not VAX. I sort of adopted a pair in ZKO (unused and 
already obsolete) for testing out some of my clustering code changes before 
borrowing a more advanced cluster, if needed. Just needed a pair of Alphas with 
a couple of shared (DSSI) interconnects.
