Still very widely used in the US. I never had a check book in Denmark -
I had to get one in the US.

Someone I know from university 3 decades ago recently posted
on LinkedIn. He had written something for a US media and for
payment they sent him a check - he was totally surprised - he
had not seen a check in many years.

But countries are different.
