Interesting. For something like that, isn't it more the case that the
environment itself also needs to be emulated instead of just providing
an implementation of the programming language ?

A standard scripting language on z/OS is REXX:

To those of you more familiar with this, is there any viable path for
moving these applications from the IBM world to the VMS world ?
