Some SSDs used in HPE products will fail at 40,000 hours of operation.

Announcement here:

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=a00097382en_us

I can understand why some SSDs might fail due to a signed 16-bit overflow
(which was the problem with the previous batch of SSDs which failed at
32768 hours).

I do not see what is so special about the number 40,000 however so I don't
understand why they will fail at exactly this number of hours.

Does anyone know what is so special about 40,000 hours in this regard ?

Simon.

Walking destinations on a map are further away than they appear.
