Oracle just dropped "Oracle Classic" on VMS.
Expected (also known as "hoping") is not the same thing as knowing.

The next day after this is known to the VMS community at large.
When this was being discussed recently no-one could even confirm that
Rdb was being ported to x86-64 and we didn't know if it was going to
go the way of Oracle Classic.
Many people around here would make excellent VSI marketing employees.
That is not a good thing BTW.
The reason why people are commenting about (the lack of) VSI marketing
is because I suspect they can see the same bigger picture that I can.
After years of broken promises about when x86-64 VMS would become
available, big things are finally starting to happen in the x86-64 VMS
world, and VSI should be shouting that out loud to anyone who will
listen.
VSI should be actively continuing to keep the idea of VMS as a still
viable choice in the minds of people and when something like this comes
along which shows that, after years of broken promises, x86-64 VMS is
_finally_ almost here, VSI should be telling everyone about it as soon
as they are allowed to (which at the latest is when Oracle did their
first public presentation on it).
This is excellent news for VMS and any other company would be massively
promoting the hell out of it and generally building up an atmosphere
of excitement towards the upcoming release of x86-64 VMS.
Even HP (at least back in the days of Sue) did a better job of this
than VSI marketing are doing. Who knows, once they have got around to
doing normal marketing, perhaps VSI could even start creating promotional
materials like Sue did that could be on display in your workplaces and
hence start discussions about VMS and keep it in the minds of people. :-)
