If any vendor says something public about their product, then interested 
parties can surely point people to that information.

I'm not taking any sides here.  I don't know what VSI "knows".

 From what I've seen, VSI should be able to "mention" what Oracle has 
said publicly, even if it was only to their customers.  But consider, 
perhaps Oracle has asked VSI to not do so.  Don't ask me why.  I haven't 
a clue.  But it is a possibility.

It is my impression that VSI just might not have a huge marketing budget 
at this time.

As I may have mentioned in the past, anyone that could easily get off 
VMS has most likely already done so.  Thus, perhaps VSI looks at the 
current user base as their primary customers, and doesn't seem to need 
to inform them, as most already keep themselves informed.

I'm not saying I agree with such a decision, if indeed that is anyway an 
accurate read of the situation.

It's VSI's problem, and they might know what they are doing.  I will 
only comment that it's not 1980, and perhaps marketing requirements just 
might be different today.
