Well, you can't use the control lines on USB serial ports to do
bit banging unlike with real hardware serial ports... :-)
BTW, unless it got changed in a later version of the specification,
the USB CDC ACM specification does not pass CTS over to the host itself
for handling so that's another difference. The idea was (IIRC) that
the flow control would be handled on the device itself instead of in
the host.
I think some of the closed vendor-specific protocols might pass through
CTS however.
