Is it related to the Oracle Classic issue?
The timing could certainly indicate so.
But:
* my understanding is that the previous communication
pushed "SQL Relay" while this push Sector7
* As I read the Sector7 front web page, then they got
solutions for Rdb and RMS index-sequential files but not
Oracle DB (Oracle Classic)
And:
https://sector7.com/
says:
<quote>
VMS Software Inc and Sector7 Strategic Partnership
VMSsoftware and Sector7 have partnered to help VMS / OpenVMS developers
migrate Oracle Rdb to Postgres or Oracle databases hosted on VMS or
Linux servers. SQLMOD is converted to native Embedded SQL in C (ECPG or
Pro*C) and CDD is converted to Sector7 Vx/CDD with include files
generated for C, COBOL, PASCAL, FORTRAN, DEC FORMS.
</quote>
which creates even more confusion.
WTF does "migrate Oracle Rdb to Postgres or Oracle databases hosted on
VMS or Linux servers" mean?
PostgreSQL does not run on VMS and soon Pracle DB (Oracle Classic) will
not run on VMS. Rdb is running on VMS but they talk about migrating
off Rdb.
I am confused!!
