We want to understand the world. :-)

Right. But the purpose of a field test is to test a system. If such
clustering is allowed with 9.1 but not with 9.2, then that means that it
will be removed (or at least de-supported) with 9.2. Why make such a
change after the test? Yes, clustering with older versions makes sense
for a test, but also for migration. Assuming that the information is
correct, why not support clustering for migration in 9.2? I can
understand that VSI don't want to support it long-term, but since
apparently it is possible, not supporting it in 9.2 means that people
(even those who did the field test with 9.1, perhaps) will have to move
to VSI VMS on Alpha just for migration.

Right, hence the questions.

With VAX, probably few if any. With Alpha? Probably at least a few.
