There was never a breach of any of my systems beyond one user who
used his department password on an unsecured web page.
(There were constant attempts but not successful.) N o malware
was ever installed, not even on the Windows boxes.
None of our data was ever taken. But then much of the data on
academic systems is publicly available cause that's what academia
is all about.
Systems can be secured. Even Windows. The hardest part is walking
that thin line between security and usability. But it can be done.
