You might want to give it a go with the printer you have in storage.

I have successfully used Ghostscript on Linux to print various file
types to a simple PCL printer in the past.

BTW, if the printer really has been in storage for as long as you say,
I would not leave it unattended when it's powered up until you are sure
it's _not_ going to release the magic smoke. :-)
