You're saying that something like DCL changed radically over the years?

I don't know, apart from some products and facilities like UCX and
TCP/IP Services, I found a lot that remained remarkably similar
(especially on a higher level).

Even things like MACRO-32, if you should care for it, have been a
constant thanks to it being a compiler on non-VAX platforms...
