[Info-vax] Can't get uVAX II console to talk

Ijust acquired a uVAX II system that I'm trying to verify works as expected.  The systems powers up OK and the LED display ends up showing the number 0 (zero) which I recall says that the power-up diagnostics say the system is OK.

I currently have a VT420 connected to the console port using a DECconnect cable (branded even) and an H8571-J adapter (MMJ to 9-pin).  I get nothing on the terminal.  Note that this VT/Cable/Adapter setup works for consoles on my DS10s, DS15s and RXyyyy systems with no problems.

The only doc I could locate showed a connection using a VT320 with the cable/adapter I have but included in the stream a BC22 null modem cable.  Is this required here or is there a variant of the H8671 that I should be using?
