There is difference between how the world works and
what is fair.

Fair is subjective and therefore depends on the person
making the evaluation.

I was actually quoting what I was commenting on.

Phillip was making a comment about how companies react
in the real world.

Your reply indicated that this behavior of treating
a group as one was not fair.

I was pointing put that those two perspectives
are independent of each other and that assuming
that behavior will follow fair can cause problems.
