Ah, sorry. It's been quite a while since I've had access to a proper
NNTP server so I've had to fall back on the (shudder) Google Groups web
interface and incorrectly assumed it might do something sensible. I
shall compose my messages externally and just paste into the web
interface now.
Veering from the topic, but do you have a particular NNTP server you
recommend? It seems like everything these days tends to be priced and
oriented toward people wanting to focus on the binaries groups...

I abbreviated that part -- I too have logic looping over a wait on
F$GETDVI to make sure the relevant devices are available in the cluster.
When I was playing around with setting this up, startup definitely did
NOT go well before doing so!

Ah, thank you for that. So I think this echoes what I took away from
Stephen's reply; to be able to dismount the volume cleanly, I'll need to
manually stop more things earlier in the shutdown process instead of
just relying on the system taking care of them later during shutdown.
Your notes will indeed help me track everything down. Thanks!
Thanks,
Matthew
