Hello group,
I've recently unearthed an old VAXstation 4000 vlc that I used for many years at work in the 1990's. When I left the company I was able to take the VAX with me along with an MMJ lead plus a DB9 adapter. Sadly I've been unable to locate the cable so was interested to know if anyone had a wiring diagram for MMJ6 to DB9.
I've purchased a pack of 10 MMJ boots and I've tried various combinations of connection so far and have managed to get the serial console to come up on OpenBSD, on minicom on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu and Devuan) and using Serial Tools on my Macbook - but in each instance whilst I can see get to the '>>>' prompt, no wiring confguration I've tried so far allows me to send commands back to the VAX.
Any help most appreciated (and, Yes, I know I can use simh - I've got many, including an excellent VMS 4.7 install working on a RPI2, instances running, but would dearly love to get this old friend working again).
https://www.lammertbies.nl/comm/cable/dec-mmj was the site I used to get the cable to show the console, I've poke around on various others but with no joy in typing back to the console.
Mark
