This is a strength of VMS, at least for some people. Simon feels that
all users must have immediate access to security patches. It's an
opinion, everybody is entitled to at least one.
I've got to add, I personally feel that all commercial VMS sites should
subscribe to VSI support. This is to support VSI, who is the only game
in town with respect to moving VMS into the future. This is needed,
because relying on old un-replaceable hardware sooner or later will fail.
Still, the robust long term viability of VMS is a strength for users,
should VSI at some time not be around. As David Turner mentions,
emulators add to this strength.
