First, I threw out that example just to show that things can be kept 
sorta simple.

Second, I probably wouldn't.  There is always more than one way to do 
things.

I'm not exactly sure just what "nested associative arrays" might be. 
Perhaps it's just the terminology.  So I won't directly address that 
which I do not understand.

What I will say is that I tend to keep things as simple and easily 
understood as possible.  At some time, someone else might need to 
understand things.  If they cannot, what use is the thing?

I don't like "smart people".  Usually they think they are much smarter 
than they actually are.  All too often they just screw things up.  I 
really like the KISS principal.
