Right.  I would prefer, say, DELETE_.  I've seen procedures which start 
with 

$  DELETE := DELETE_
$  BACKUP := BACKUP_

etc. just in case the user has a corresponding symbol defined.  (I think 
that it is bad style to define symbols which match DCL verbs.)

Somewhat related: sending email to _USER instead of USER will get it 
delivered locally even if there is a SET FORWARD.
