Past practices, continuing from inertia. The internet hasn't always
been here. Most of that software existed from the past, so, not so much
paying for anything new.
There is always the chance of needing to do something, while on-site,
and the convience of having the tools available.
The cost is a whole bunch less than what your customer pays for Rdb.
:-)
Also, there is no forcing. If a customer wanted pre-built executables,
we'd be happy to do that.
