Seems to harsh on the EU. Members of a club have to play by the rules.
If they don't like it, they can leave. My main criticism of Brexit is
that it was not decided in a proper democratic way in any sense of the
term. Aside from that, people and nations can decide what they want to
belong to. But if they choose to leave, they have to bear the
consequences. No having one's cake and eating it too.

Poland has rolled back on it justice reform due to EU pressure. They
can leave if they want to, but they won't, because they benefit from it.
So not going along with the rules is just to see how far they can push
it. Unfortunately, some decisions have to be unanimous. Good rule back
in the day, not now. Some countries abuse that rule to get what they
want (same with NATO and Turkey.)
