Right. And that's what's weird with Switzerland. People actually are 
responsible. They vote no to more government spending, no to longer 
vacations, and yes to higher taxes. (With that said, taxes are still 
pretty low in Switzerland.)

I don't expect that to happen if this was somewhere else, which is why I 
doubt direct democracy would work in other places.
