Nothing in that prevents you from still using DHCP, though. I used DHCP 
even for machines with fixed IP. I have it configured in my DHCP server 
to give fixed IP addresses to specific MAC addresses, and DNS 
configuration is also handed out via DHCP. I just like administrating it 
all in one place. :-)
