I resurrected a 30 year old Fortran program that did an NTP query to a server
and reported the time difference. I stopped the local NTP server (and no DTSS
running either) and used a command procedure to query every 10 minutes for
18 hours. There was no drift seen, so VirtualBox was apparently keeping the 
clock interrupt stable (or my laptop has a very good clock).
