Others tried implementing a Unix-type layer on top of their own 
proprietary OS. Data General had MV/UX, before they had their native Unix 
variant in the form of DG/UX.

And on VMS ... not sure where that one came from, but for years 
afterwards, when you did a Perl build on a real Unix, you would see the 
message “Congratulations! You’re not running EUNICE!”.

Yes, I remember seeing a proliferation of HSH0NAEDA.HSH/.HSN files in many 
user directories on our system ...
