From cmbaker at tiac.net Fri Apr 1 09:37:09 2005 From: cmbaker at tiac.net (Clark Baker) Date: Fri, 1 Apr 2005 09:37:09 -0500 Subject: [Squaredancing] New rules for square dancing Message-ID: <439d0243521edbb6abb0b8d46e44704f@tiac.net> The committee on old dancers met at the recent convention and had several recommendations. With square dancers getting on in years, they recommend that we adjust the timing charts. From now on calls that take 4 beats or less will take an extra 2 beats. All other calls will take an extra 4 beats. In addition, callers are requested estimate the average age of the dancers on the floor and to play the music 2 BPM slower than usual for each decade above 50 that you have. The committee's final action was to banish all the armpit moves: Star Thru, Dive Thru, Box The Gnat, and California Twirl. They are glad that Curlique is gone and want the rest to be retired to the same home. The committee on old callers only had one recommendation. Callers in Europe are to be allowed a bathroom break at least once every 45 minutes at the microphone. This will be added to the standard caller contract, and will apply to anyone who checks the "65 or older" box. Discussion on these important recommendations encouraged.
