Hi there and Happy New Year from Finland.
Here in Finland and Germany they do wear bolo ties.
Our square dance club gave my partner one for his birthday.

At two of the three local clubs where I am a member, guys (or gals)
_never_ wear bolo ties.  There are many clubs to which I do not belong
where I presume they might do so.

here in Germany a majority of the dancers do wear them.

But it's optional.

Here in Louisiana the usage of cloth ties and/or bolo ties is about  50-50.
 
But, more often than not, I see less and less of them.
