   If the system was anywhere near well tuned, this process is placing
   stresses on the syustem not previously seen.  The OP is in a better
   position to determine whether more RAM is needed, and will know even
   more if he increases the page file to see how the process performs.

   We once had a process like this, it ran like a dog, I could have
   redeisgned and reimplemented in a day or two, but we only needed to
   run it once every few years.  We'd have had to run that application
   for decades on the same 11/780 to justify my effort.
