FWIW, here is the message sent on the Rdb maillist :
---------------------------------------------------------
Dear Oracle Rdb and Oracle Database on OpenVMS Customers,
We have had several customers write and tell us that they want
to attend one of this year's North American Forums but they
can't get travel approval. To accommodate all who would like
to attend, we will now provide remote access for those who
cannot attend in person. If you would like to attend remotely,
all you need to do is register online at:
www.oracle.com/technology/products/rdb/tech_forums/
and send mail to "infordb_us at oracle.com" telling us that you
will be a remote attendee. We will then send you an email with
the dial-in information and a link to the presentation material.
This can be done for either the Redwood Shores or Nashua Forums.
The agendas for both events, with the times and session topics,
are posted on the registration site. As a reminder, the dates
and locations for these two Forums are:
October 19-20 Oracle Conference Center
350 Oracle Parkway
Redwood Shores, CA, USA
October 22-23 Oracle New England Development Center
One Oracle Drive
Nashua, NH, USA

There was also a question posted :
> Dumb question: is there a cost to being a remote attendee?
to which Ian Smith replied :

> either (well apart from transport and accommodation).
