[Info-vax] One wonders why people bet their companies on Microsoft based products...

The current debacle of T-Mobile and Microsoft/Danger (what a name) and
the loss of personal data on some 800,000 Sidekick PDAs is without a
doubt another example of why people should only bet their businesses
on systems time tested and shown to be reliable - OpenVMS being the
obvious candidate. The story can be found here:

The situation suggested by this excerpt should never happen:

"Regrettably, based on Microsoft/Danger’s latest recovery assessment
of their systems, we must now inform you that personal information
stored on your device - such as contacts, calendar entries, to-do
lists or photos - that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly
has been lost as a result of a server failure at Microsoft/Danger.
That said, our teams continue to work around-the-clock in hopes of
discovering some way to recover this information. However, the
likelihood of a successful outcome is extremely low."

A good sales consultant needs to be sent to talk to T-Mobile's
Executives.

Oh, well...
