it should be... charging $20-$50/cartridge and getting a $19-$49 
return... and setting a "page counter" to determine how low it is rather 
than some sort other means to determine fullness (and NOT providing a 
reset for that counter so you can actually use all of the ink.

I have a Canon multi-function printer and when it has printed the 
pre-alloted number of "pages", it will NOT print a FAX until you replace 
the cartridge - even though there may still be ink in the well.  And so 
far, I have not found any tool/key sequence that will reset that counter 
- this also means that you cannot refill your own or buy "refilled 
after-market" cartridges.
