I have. It takes about 60 MB mem and no noticeable slow down. And that
is on a 3 year old laptop.
That seems to be rather common.
The only think I have seen that can make Outlook really frustrating
is a slow or flaky connection to the exchange server.

You have just as much need for anti-spam software on Linux as on
Windows.
I assume you meant anti-spyware softeare.
