No, openOffice hasn't been ported to VMS.
I'm afraid that the days are long gone when VMS excelled as an
application server platform.
I still develop small programs on VMS, mainly games for my children
(Lingo, Mastermind) but commercial activities, even opensource
activities are very limited indeed.
So you're probably better served by an XP or Mac OS based system with
tightened security and a good virusscanner. AVG from Grisoft was
already mentioned and it has served me well (since 2002 or 2003). They
hide the freeware pretty well on the site, google for freeavg.
